The F2AS consists of a F2 body with a DP-12 head. The DP-12 is a copy of the DP-3 upgraded with the new Automatic Indexing (AI) feature, transmitting the current aperture setting of the lens to the camera.
The DP-3 was manufactured from July 1977 until 1980. The F2AS is probably the most popular version of the F2.
I purchased the pictured camera from a private owner in Switzerland in 1997.
According to the serial number it was built between April and July 1977.
Shown with a matching 50mm/1.4 AI lens, a 35mm/2.8 PC lens, a MF-3 rewind stop back and a MD-3 motor drive with it’s MB-2 battery pack (btw, I found this motor drive during our honeymoon in a tiny photo shop in Cairns / Australia…).
