The FTN model was the last evolution of the F Photomic finder and became very popular. The main improvements are a simplified lens mounting procedure recognizing the maximum and minimum aperture of the lens, a new finder-release lever and a modified battery compartment and testing.
The F body cosmetics changed late in production to match the then introduced F2. The so called “Apollo” F (because Nikon’s association with the NASA during the Apollo space program) was updated with a plastic tipped type advance lever and self timer, like my camera here.
The FTN is the most successful F type, manufactured from September 1968 to Mai 1974 – the last 3 years even though the F2 was already available.
I purchased the pictured camera at the camera exchange in Lichtensteig, Switzerland, in October 2000.
According to the serial number it was built between January and February 1973.
